2006 EASY CARE INC. HOOF BOOT CONTEST WINNERS |

Dave Rabe - 1715 miles - 1st Place
"The Easyboot Epics and Bares that I used this year worked better than I ever imagined possible. They were excellent and worked really well for my horses. I had my shoer trim my horses every few weeks. This was way better for my horses, their hoof walls are stronger. The boots were a lot easier to use than I thought they would be and they held up extremely well. I never had any problem with the gaiters all year.
I thought the Bares were awesome, no worry about buckles. My horses travel just as well in the boots as they do with shoes on and they are much better off being barefoot. My horses are kept in a 10 acre pasture with some rocks and they do just as well barefoot as they did with shoes on. Thanks EasyCare for having the hoof boot contest! I think your boots are the best thing on the market by far and haven’t seen anything even close." |

"I have used Easy Boots over shoes since 1998 in Endurance. I really like the way they protect the soles and reduce concussion. Beginning with this season I decided to use the Epics over bare feet. I have been very satisfied with the results.
By doing my own trims, I don’t have to wait 5-8 weeks, so my horse is never overdue. I can keep him trimmed every couple of weeks. His feet have never been better and he is traveling well in his boots.
Over 700 competition miles so far.... Thanks, EasyCare. Keep up the good work." |

"We have always used Easyboots over shoes at rides and Rocky has always done great using them. Rocky is very comfortable with them on and travels very well in them. So this year we decided to take the plunge and go barefoot!
We’ve had a great ride season using Easyboot Epics and Bares. We’ve done rides this year that had wet and muddy conditions and some that were very dry with hard, concussive surfaces. It’s a great feeling to be able to take the boots off at the end of the day and the hooves look great!!
We’ve had a great ride season and look forward to another one next year using Easyboot Epics and Bares." |

Carol Layton - 500 miles - 4th Place
"Easyboot Bares and Epics enabled me to ride just under 1000 endurance kilometres in 2006, over mainly rough and rocky hilly terrain. The severe drought in NSW, Australia made the ground incredibly hard.
Boots made it possible to ride the most difficult endurance courses, impossible for our horses bare feet, as they are kept near the coast in soft, green paddocks.
What a year! The highlights were riding my horse, Omani Mr Sqiggle in the 400−kilometre marathon ride called Shahzada with no issues at all, earning us a coveted nomination for the best managed/conditioned horse award. Then Sqig repeated the same feat in the 160−kilometre State Championship ride, gaining 4th place lightweight.
Can’t wait for the 2007 season!"

"E-Bey has never been shod, and when we started learning endurance together four years ago, everyone said he would need shoes if he was going to compete.
I said “OK,” but I want to see how far we can get first.” We now have more than 1,700 AERC miles, including several top-10s, multi-day and 100-mile rides under our girth, and E-Bey is still enjoying the benefits of the 24/7 barefoot lifestyle, thanks to the EasyCare line of hoof boots. I believe we are at a time in the history of horse keeping when the technology should be available to make it possible to perform any equestrian endeavor without needing to nail on steel. For E-Bey and me, the timing has been perfect.
E-Bey does all his endurance conditioning, military re-enactments and parades, including the 2006 Rose Parade, completely barefoot, and uses the Easyboot Epics/Bares for competition miles." |

"Overall 2006 was a fairly quiet year for me and my horse Tom (Revelwood Shaja) but with some notable exceptions. Most significantly we attempted, for the first time, the Shahzada 250 mile marathon ride (5 days of 50 mile/day) where we finished in 8th place and were one of six combinations called up for the best managed horse award. Tom wore four EasyBares for the entire ride and I couldn't have been happier with their performance.
Tom also completed a further eight 50 mile rides, either barefoot or in various combinations of bootedness (2 or 4 for some or all of a ride). I was very impressed with the durability of the EasyBares; my most used pair finally wore through in the soles after a smidge over 1000 miles of use."

"This was a learning/experimenting year for me using hoofboots in endurance, although I've utilized Easyboots for years when packing into the mountains.
This year I tried the Bares and Epics, as well as the older and new style Easyboots. It didn't take long to get fairly proficient with all of them and I had good luck with them.
I believe I pay better attention to Hawk's feet when I keep him barefoot. I live in an area where I only need shoes on occasion for conditioning, so it is much better for my horse and more economical for me to utilize boots when his feet need protection.
In 2007, I hope to keep him barefoot all year. We have many rides planned, including several multi-days and at least one 100-miler. We also plan to do the Santa Fe ride in September. Thanks for this opportunity!
My congratulations to Dave Rabe. I think he is an awesome guy and horseman." |
