“Two years ago my arab mare and I moved from the coast of California to the big island of Hawaii. Kiara had never been shod and riding the sand and redwood-needle packed trails of Santa Cruz county was no trouble. But upon our arrival in Kona, we were in for a big surprise! The island is lava! Although grass grows plentiful here, underneath is layer upon layer of lava rock, sharp, hard and hot.

I had only used my Easyboots when the going got really tough in California. But we are riding every day with our boots on and can keep up with any of the paniolos (Hawaiian cowboys) and their shod horses. People look at me like I am another one of 'those crazy people from California' but we have never had to stop a ride due to a lost shoe or a stone bruise.
