I was thrust quite unexpectedly into the world of horse boots by my horse's unexpected diagnosis of mechanical founder. Even though I had switched to holistic care for my horse, I still clung to what I had been taught about shoes. As with many people, I was taught horses had to have shoes to be comfortable - which eventually led to the founder.
