terry-hobin-web.jpgI bought my horse Quest in June 2004; he is a Standardbred originally from the racing tracks in Denmark. He'd had an accident while racing which left him with a slightly deformed near fore hoof and so was promptly sold for meat money before being bought by a dealer and then sold to me. I'd never owned a horse before or ridden one for over 13 years, so taking on a horse that wasn't a riding horse, had a dodgy hoof and still had that racing edge to his personality was viewed by some as being a little fool hardy!

Never-the-less I gritted my teeth and got on his back and we then spent the next year learning about each others faults, bad habits & positives. But the biggest problem we had was that Quest just couldn't keep metal shoes on that deformed hoof. Sometimes the day after being shod we'd find that it had come off again and this really began to be a thorn in our sides. I decided that there must be an alternative out there and began to surf the web for answers, that's when I discovered Barefoot!

I called a barefoot trimmer had all his shoes removed and started his transition there and then. Everything was looking good except for the fact that he was now sensitive on ground that was rough and this detracted from my enjoyment of riding him. I was advised to try some Easyboot Epics and I have to admit that when I first viewed them I was skeptical that they'd stay on at all, let alone in any testing conditions. HOW WRONG WAS I!! From the very first time we tried them I decided that if he wore them for the rest of his life I'd be a happy man because he went like a steam engine over some serious ground. Not only that, but we got the fastest time of the day and received a trophy.

The long term benefits have been that his hoofs are all in great shape, amazingly though even his dodgy hoof is improving not only in quality but confirmation as well. From meat money to winning a trophy in an Endurance ride, I wouldn't swap this horse for the best cutting horse in the States.

Thanks for a brilliant product,

Terry
