HOW EASYBOOTS SAVED BRYCE CANYON FOR BUBBA
In 2006, our first season, the Bryce Canyon 5-day ride had been the personal best for me and my Spotted Saddle Horse, Bubba G. This year I wussed out on him on Day 3 at Fort Schellbourne (a snowstorm in June !) and so we got to Bryce this year with high hopes, only to be derailed by losing a front shoe on Day 1 and Day 2. Both days we made it through using the same EasyBoot that let us complete the 2006 Cold Springs 100 after losing a shoe at 75 miles, but we needed a way to go out with confidence the next 3 days.
The answer was simple: instead of using an EasyBoot as a “spare tire,” Karen and Garrett foamed on two EasyBoots in front. Bubba and I took it easy Day 3 getting used to our new outfit while improving our time and placing (and also passing 3000 miles in 21 months). We did Days 4 and 5 in under seven hours each, with ease and with confidence in our ability to make reasonable speeds in tricky footing without unreasonable risks. The cost and effort of installing the EasyBoots foamed in place was minimal; the peace of mind that came from knowing Bubba was protected on the trail was priceless. If there is a tough trail in front of you, EasyBoots can smooth your way. Bubba and I sure won’t leave home without them.
