"I own High Country Trail Rides at Oberon in NSW and always believed horses had to be shod to work. Shoeing twenty horses was always time consuming and very frustrating when one or two had lost a shoe on the day of a ride. Combined with lameness issues due to the shoes I started to look at the alternative of going barefoot after doing some research.
I was shown how to do a barefoot trim and at the same time was introduced to Old Mac’s boots which were highly recommended to assist me through the transition period. I started trimming my own horses and using Old Mac’s on the fronts of my horses for the rocky trails and three years later I have yet to have a hoof injury since I pulled their shoes off.
Even in the dry months none of the horses has a hoof crack in sight. I highly recommend every horse owner try the barefoot route . I was told by many skeptics that it would never work but I have proved them all wrong and now I am reaping the rewards"
